Step 1: Lay your melon on its side. Even off the bottom by cutting a flat surface for the melon to stand upright on its own. Be careful not to cut too deep into the rind.
Step 2: Cut out a circular top like you would a pumpkin and scoop out the melon with a large spoon or your hands. Be careful not to hit the bottom.
Step 3: Cut a small hole 2/3 of the way down and insert your drink spout. Be sure to secure it from the inside.
Step 4: Fill your new keg with your favorite punch or a large batch cocktail.
• 8 cups of watermelon
(saved from the keg)
• 2 cups of vodka
• 2 tablespoons of simple syrup
• ¼ cup lime juice
• mint to garnish
Strain watermelon into the keg over ice and discard left-over pulp. Add all other ingredients and stir until well blended. Pour into glass and enjoy!
This summer we’re all about fresh fruit. We took our favorite fruits and our favorite spirits to infuse our own grapefruit gin, strawberry tequila, orange vodka, pineapple vodka, cucumber and lime gin, and blueberry mezcal.
