You may take it with gin or vodka, dry or extra dirty, shaken or stirred, all that matters is that today you take it. Arguably the most classic cocktail there ever was, the martini is a drink of subtleties. The slightest alteration can make it an entirely different cocktail and therein lies its beauty. Today we're celebrating by sharing a couple of tips, shaking up a couple of drinks of our own, and toasting an icon who's championed this drink for decades, Bond, James Bond.
Martini Tips: 1. Rapidly chill your glass by filling it with ice and letting it sit as you prepare your drink. Empty before pouring.
2. When shaking your martini hold the shaker up and over your should and shake until the outside of the shaker appears frosted.
