September isn’t known for its plethora of holidays. Now that Labor Day has passed, Minibar can give you something to look forward to these next few weeks. We believe in celebrating every day, so here are a few recipes to help.
SEPTEMBER 4TH - FIRST DAY OF THE NFL SEASON
Nothing pairs better with cool weather than cold beer and crazy fans. Kickoff the NFL season by browsing Minibar’s beer selection, as we recently expanded to Brooklyn!
SEPTEMBER 6TH - READ A BOOK DAY
Break free of the confines of 140 characters and celebrate this day by reading a book cover to cover. Flip through Catcher in the Rye with a Scotch and Soda, guzzle a Gin Rickey while revisiting The Great Gatsby or take a more literal clue from the The Rum Diaries with some Rhum Agricole.
1/2 ounce lime juice
2 ounces London dry gin
Pour lime juice and gin into a highball glass over ice. Fill with Club Soda and stir. Add the wedge of lime and serve.
SEPTEMBER 9TH - TEDDY BEAR DAY
Theodore Roosevelt was a New Yorker, explorer, a conservationist, the 26th American President, and, most importantly, the namesake of our beloved Teddy Bears. Raise a glass to your furry friend with Teddy’s favorite drink to pour, The Oyster Bay Cocktail.
The Oyster Bay Cocktail:
1 oz dark rum
1 tsp anisette
2 oz mango juice
1 oz grapefruit juice
1 oz pineapple juice
1 oz papaya juice
3/4 oz lime juice
1/2 oz sugar syrup
Shake and strain into highball glass. Garnish with fruit and serve with straws.
SEPTEMBER 19TH - TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY
Yo ho ho and a bottle of FUN! Pillage some grog fer ye Captain and crew. Add beer, rum and lime fer a rippin good time.
SEPTEMBER 21ST - WIFE APPRECIATION DA
At Minibar, we believe everyday should be Wife Appreciation Day. Take this particular opportunity to surprise your better half with bottle of red wine and a night on the town.
SEPTEMBER 29TH - NATIONAL COFFEE DAY
Your favorite Monday morning pick-me-up deserves a little recognition. Show that cup of joe some extra love with a splash of Kahlua as a thank you for all it’s help.
