Wednesday Wine Pick: Excelsior Cabernet Sauvignon

Excelsior Cabernet Sauvignon of South Africa

Excelsior Cabernet Sauvignon of South Africa

This delicious, crowd pleasing Cabernet – consistently named a Wine Enthusiast "Best Buy" – delivers serious bang for the buck! It's packed with lip smacking flavors of blackcurrant, black cherry and plum, with subtle hints of dark chocolate and spice.

The bottle label reads: "The De Wets of Excelsior have a proud winemaking tradition dating back to 1697. The calcareous soils of the Robertson area were once used to raise champion thoroughbred horses, but now these soils are used to produce fine wines.
Crammed with abundant blackcurrant aromas, this full-bodied wine is a mouthful of plum flavors. Delightfully versatile, it makes a delicious partner to a variety of foods, including red meats and rich pasta dishes.
14.5% Alcohol"

Wednesday Wine: California Pinot Noir

Famously difficult to grow, Pinot Noir grapes must be tenderly cared for by both their growers and the weather. Only a handful of regions around the world have the climate to successfully cultivate the delicate fruit and fewer still are the winemakers with the knowledge and patience to see it through to its full potential. Calling France its home turf, California's Pinot Noir has risen to fame as a more accessible wine with fruit forward flavors and high alcohol content.

We like The Pinot Project, Siduri, and Kistler (appearing in ascending price).
