We may not all know the true meaning of this holiday, but that won't stop us from celebrating! This Cinco de Mayo, Minibar has teamed up with esteemed mixologist Jason Littrell to share with you two premium concoctions for your celebration.
Jason has crafted cocktails at some of New York's best bars, training at the Randolph at Broome before joining the cocktail dream team at Death + Company. He now runs his own world strategy and events company, Critical Mass.
He's mixed everything from esoteric drinks to timeless classics. Now, he's taking on the classic margarita with some Cinco cocktails.
Thinko de Mayo
- 2 parts El Jimador Reposado
- 3/4 part Matilde Poire
- 1/2 part fresh lemon
- A dash of salt water (equal parts kosher salt to water by volume)
- 2 parts Virtue Cider Redstreak
Shake and strain everything except the cider over fresh ice. Carefully add the Redstreak and gently stir. Garnish with a Macintosh apple slice, or just skip the garnish and cheers a friend.
- 2 parts Avion Tequila (infused with Morita chilies*)
- 1 part naval orange
- 1/2 part Grand Marnier
- 1/2 part grapefruit juice
- 1/2 part lemon juice
- Teaspoon 1:1 simple syrup
Build in Collins glass, stir with your finger, laugh out loud.
*5 grams of dried and crushed Morita peppers infused with 750ml of reposado for 30 minutes.
